While our 100% Pure All Natural Tuberose Oil is technically an absolute, it is most rare, coming from a small grower/extractor in South America who extracts the tuberose essenital oil from the tuberose flower petals by the ancient method of enfleurage. Only palm oil (organic) and alcohol (organic) derived from local sugar cane (organic) are used in the tubersose oil extraction process. The entire process of extracting the tuberose oil is done by hand using no heat. Pure local palm oil is used to absorb the aromatic oils from the tuberose flower petals. Once the palm oil is completely saturated with the essence of the tuberose flower then it is mixed with the organic cane sugar alcohol. The tuberose oils then combine with the alcohol and the palm oil is poured off. Lastly, the alcohol is evaporated to leave only the pure Tuberose oil.

Perfumes using Tuberose are considered to be quite fabulous and are very expensive. Tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa) is native to Central America. Aztec healers called tuberose absolute omixochitl (bone-flower) due to the waxy, luminous white flowers. Tuberose oil cannot be distilled like most essential oils due to the delicate nature of the flowers. Either method (enfleurage or solvent extraction) is time consuming and the tuberose essential oil yields are quite small for the amount of materials used. Over 3500 pounds of blossoms are needed to produce 1 pound of the essential oil which is why Tuberose Essential Oil is one of the most expensive oils on earth, even more than most rose ottos / rose attars.
